One of the most successful conversions from rail to trail and voted one of the top 10 trails in America, this 78 mile trail offers scenery from pasture to woodland for bikers, hikers, and birdwatchers to enjoy.

West Fork Trail
The gentle grade of this crushed limestone trail make it a popular destination for family camping trips in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter. The arrival of Spring is marked with fields of beautiful wildflowers and the colorful autumn leaves make the West Fork Trail a favorite for nature enthusiasts.

Allegheny trail
Stretching from the Pennsylvania-West Virginia border to Peters Mountain in Monroe County this 330 mile trail is perfect for long distance hikers. One of the first long distance trails in West Virginia, it passes through Durbin, The National Radio Asrtonomy Observatory in Green Bank, the town of Cass, Seneca Sate Forest, and a section of Watoga State Park.

Cranberry Wilderness Area

Closed to motorized vehicles of any kind, the area is home to many types of wildlife including; American black bear, white tailed deer, snowshoe hare, cottontail rabbit, wild turkey, grouse, both the gray and red fox, and countless birds and snakes.

As well as trail riding, road biking in Pocahontas County is an extremely popular sport and a great way to travel. From mountain scenery, farmlands dotted with red barns, expansive corn fields, 18th century cemetaries, historic churches and fields of wildflowers there is always something to see!

The Road less travelled

Real Estate Tips
Curb Appeal >Upgrade Before You Sell

Real estate agents sometimes receive calls from homeowners asking for advice on what they should do to prepare their house to go on the market. They may have settled for living in a "less than optimal" circumstance for years, and are now going to spend money to make it nice for someone else to enjoy.

If you are considering painting, updating the kitchen, landscaping, or making any other improvements that will increase your home's re-sale value, think about making those improvements while you are still there to enjoy them. Create your own dream kitchen, master suite or spa, build an outdoor living room or restore your wood floors now. Improving your property will make your home more enjoyable, help maintain the property values in your neighborhood, and expedite the sale of your home when you are ready for a move.
